Jacob Birch

Jacob Birch has lived in Wawne Village all of his life. Educated at the village primary school and later attending Beverley Grammar School, and Sixth Form where he studied politics. Jacob later went on to complete an apprenticeship with a company working directly with the Foreign and Common Wealth Office. Jacob now works for a Chocolate and Confectionary Specialist based in Tickton.

Jacob currently sits on Wawne Parish Council and has done since May 2016. Jacob leads on budget planning and redevelopment of the Recreation Ground in the Village. As well as this Jacob also edits the Wawne Gazette and works closely with community groups to help them achieve the outcomes they wish.

In May 2019, Jacob was elected to East Riding of Yorkshire Council (ERYC), to represent the Mid Holderness Ward. He currently sits on the Children and Young People as well as Safer and Stronger Overview and Scrutiny Sub-Committees. Linked with this work, he is one of the ERYC representatives on the Police Crime Panel and works with partners on the Humber Rural Safety Advisory Panel.

As well as being a member of the Beverley and Holderness Association, Jacob is a proud member of the LGBT+ Conservatives, Young Conservatives.

Jacob also works closely with Graham Stuart MP on Constituency and Ward work. These issues include Rural Crime and Graham’s CADEY Campaign (Community Access to Defibrillators in East Yorkshire), where Jacob is a member of the CADEY committee.

Jacob is highly motivated to improve the lives and skills of young people in the area. One of his roles is the Cub Scout Leader in Cherry Burton and also sits on an East Riding steering group to improve voice and influence across the area, as well as introduce an East Riding Youth Parliament representation.
