COVID-19: Association Statement
Statement from Association Chairman, Simon Reevell...
In light of the ongoing and increasing concerns regarding the corona virus I have given careful thought to a number of events that are currently in the Association’s diary.
The first of these is the AGM due to be held at Wassand Hall on the 27th March. I have decided that (1) it is not fair to expect our President to host the meeting in the current circumstances and (2) it is not a good idea to bring together our members who are from different parts of the constituency and who differ in respect of both age and health. For these reasons this meeting will not now take place and an alternative date will be circulated. The new date will not be before the 1st June.
The second event is our annual dinner due to be held at Beverley Racecourse on April 24th. It is of course impossible to predict how things will be by then. However it seems to me that by the end of April the Racecourse may not want to/be allowed to host a dinner and/or that our members are unlikely to wish to attend in significant numbers if at all.
For these reasons I have decided that the dinner should be cancelled. Last year we had to cancel at short notice due to low numbers. The Racecourse were very good about it but I do not want to delay a decision that is likely to be inevitable.
Despite the above may I assure you that the day to day management of our Association goes on as usual albeit with the Management Team making more use of email and telephone.
Finally may I wish you and your family the very best for the coming weeks.
